In today's session we continued to carry out the treatments in which we were marked on the whole treatment, from how we presented ourselves and our hair and make-up to the outcome of the treatment and how the treatment was for that person. Today it was my turn carry out a manicure and a finished polish. Fortunately I did in fact complete my treatment within the set time which is 30 minutes for a manicure.  The nail polish was quite gloopy so it did have an impact, although I did manage to avoid ruining the polishing by applying thin coats and waiting long enough for each layer to dry.

Once I made sure the nail polish had dried nicely I cleaned around where there were any smudges on the skin around the nails, I used a cotton bud stick with some nail polish remover to clean up the nails.
Overall, I think I carried out a really good treatment by ensuring that my work area and trolley was clean and tidy at all times, used tissues and cotton pads disposed of in the bin beside me and having a good posture throughout the treatment. The person I did a manicure on was also pleased with the treatment and their nails. I have familiarised myself with manicure.

In this session we each as individuals managed to bring clients in for us to carry out treatments completing any assessments that we needed to do. Those who did not bring clients in or was not able to, they either signed a laptop out and completed a CV for when they looked for jobs or they was offered and external client,.
Before my client was due to arrive for their treatment I was a model for someone who was quite desperate for a client for an uplifting massage so I volunteered to be their client as they did not have one that day. I had enough time before my client was due to come, I had already set my working area up beforehand, so there was no rush afterwards.
When I was having the massage it was a new experience for myself as I had not ever had a massage before only a foot and hand and arm massage as I learnt and practised those as a class in my practical sessions. The experience was in fact lovely, I would like to go back and have it all over again because not only was it uplifting but it was also relaxing and calming and as it was over I just kept on telling the therapist how I wished it could have been longer.
In addition to the first half of the session, it was a good start to the day because I had taken on a new experience which ended well.
Not long after that my client soon arrived and I was even more motivated and ready to work, especially after having a lovely back massage of which was so uplifting. I had a nice conversation with my client, keeping the focus on them and not myself, keeping the motion of the talk positive and asking how they are etc. Greeting them with a smart presentation and appearance and always keeping a smile on my face.
It was a busy kind of day but busy is always good because therapists do not want to be sat around doing absolutely nothing, they should be keeping busy and being a good beauty therapist.

Today is the third week, and  in this session we have continued to progress our work. in the morning when the lesson started, we all set up our work area for a Manicure and half of the group were carrying out a Manicure on the other half, and the other students such as myself, we were posing as Salon owner, so our duty for the morning was to take note throughout the treatment how the therapists carried out their treatment, how they greeted us and outcome of the whole treatment.

If there are any specific things such as learning or improving something within the treatment they have carried out, they will write and set themselves on their student EILP which then they can in the future go back and have a look at their set targets and see if they have reached and accomplished their targets and in next session we will have swapped positions.

In today's session we went through a printed PowerPoint about preparing ourselves for work experience and building our CV's and making them to the best standards.

First we was asked to think and research for places in which we could do as our work placement. I managed to find 2 local places that I am considering in going for.
We then went onto a website called Reed, a job site in which you can in fact create and upload your own CV, you can even have your own design too and choose for yourself how it looks.
We filled in our personal statement last, although I got mine filled in before hand as I am familiar with CV's and I'm hands on and like to get it all completed!

In the first session I created my Blog and I thought that it would be quite a lot easier to set up and create, but it was so much more complicated. I needed more help than I thought.
I see myself in about 5 years time hopefully working for myself and earning a decent amount of money and having a very successful future, thinking positively though.. I will get to where I want to be. Even though there are hurdles in life, you get through them to where you want to be in life. Hopefully I will get there, I will be successful. would.
I have done work experience at other Salons in the past. I took the role as a therapist but was mainly observing, although I did in fact carry out a few treatments, nail treatments, pedicures etc. and reception duties, I got the hang of it all eventually! The girls who worked there were so lovely and was easy to get along with.
